| Soon after we set off, we passed a Cornish town called Mousehole.
We saw it through the port window. There is a book about Mousehole. Do you have it in your school library? It is called The Mousehole Cat. |
Is port left or right?
|
Next we sailed past a beacon.
Can you see it? |
Barnaby Bear spotted some caves in the cliff face.
Do you think they are a natural or man-made feature? |
He also saw some woods.
How many different environments has he seen on this journey? |
Barnaby Bear sailed past Lands End.
Lands End is at the very end of England. If you have walked south as far as you can go, this is where you will be. |
We could only just see St. Michael's Mount, because of all the fog!
Why do you think it's often foggy at sea? |
When we reached the Isles of Scilly, Barnaby Bear saw Samson out of the window.
Samson is the island in the story 'Why the Whales Came'. There are still piles of shells outside the deserted cottages on this island. |
Just before we got to St. Mary's, Barnaby spotted Tresco and Bryher.
Do you know what Tresco is famous for? |
Bryheris the
island in the background. You can just see it behind Tresco.
Bryher is the smallest of the Isles of Scilly. You can walk around it in 2 hours! |
Barnaby Bear sailed past St. Martin's. This island is famous for its lovely beaches.
|
At last Barnaby Bear saw St. Mary's. This is the biggest of the Isles of Scilly.
|
We sailed into the harbour, where there were many other boats. Barnaby Bear was very excited!
