Barnaby Bear Visits Looe

Looe is a coastal town, in South East Cornwall. Looe is split into two by the East Looe River. The East Looe River meets the sea here. There is an island near Looe, called St George's Island.

Robert Colliver, famous pirate born in Looe

In 1666 a pirate was born in Looe. He started his pirate life with a famous pirate called Captain Kidd, and sailed on a ship called the "Blessed Mary". I wonder if he burried any treasure on Looe Island? If you are very brave, and very lucky, you might still be able to see pirates in Looe today!

The bridge and quayside at Looe Here is Barnaby Bear by the Bridge. The Bridge joins East and West Looe. Can you see the boat masts sticking up from the river? There is a red and white life belt on the wall, in case anyone falls in. You will find these all along the quayside.
Barnaby is sitting by the quayside, looking at the boats. You will find many different kinds of boats in looe. There are fishing boats, leisure boats, tour boats. You can catch a boat from here to go to St. George's Island, just like you can catch a bus in a town! The quayside and boats at Looe

The river flows into the sea by the side of the pier. This is the mouth of the Looe River.
