What is a haiku?

A haiku (hi - coo) is a traditional Japanese poem. A haiku describes something in as few words as possible. This means that the words you choose need to be strong, interesting, and descriptive. The most important thing about a haiku is the number of syllables in each line. Count them in this haiku:

A kingdom of birds
The voice of wings fluttering
A tune gathering

There are 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second and 5 in the third. How many syllables all together?
