Barnaby Bear's Australian Adventure

I stayed in a hotel near the airport so I would not be late for the flight.
The airport was very busy and we had to wait a long time before we got on the aeroplane. I sat on a table and had a cup of coffee. The aeroplane was a Jumbo Jet and it flew very high. Can you see the aeroplane in the picture?

We flew over England and some sea until we reached Sweden. Soon we were over Russia. We flew across Asia for longer than a school day. Then we crossed some more sea and landed in Japan. Click here to see what we did in Japan.

After Japan we flew to Brisbane in Australia.

Here I am in Australia. It is a massive country. We landed in Brisbane and then went on a train up the coast where we took a boat to Fraser Island. There are lots of animals and birds on the island. We went on a boat to watch whales and dolphins.

We flew south from Brisbane and the Gold Coast to the big city of Sydney. It was very exciting. I saw the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House.

We flew south to the island of Tasmania.

Tasmania is Australia's smallest state but it seemed a big place to me. It took nearly four hours to drive from Launceston (not the one in Cornwall!) at one end to Hobart at the other. Mr Viner took me to meet some Australian animals and we went to Cradle Mountain in the snow. Kangaroo

It was very cold in Tasmania because our summer is Australia's winter.

Mr and Ms Viner flew to Ayres Rock but the airline left me in Melbourne and I did not get there until the next day!

I saw Uluru - a big red rock in the desert that important to the native Australians. It was very hot in the desert.

We flew to the top end of Australia, to the city of Darwin.

Darwin is very hot. They do not have four seasons like we do: they have the dry season and the wet season. Can you think of another country that has weather like this? At the moment it is the wet season in Australia. Barnaby Bear with a warning sign...
On Thursday we drove a long way to Kakadu National Park where I saw lots of Kangaroos and brightly coloured birds. I also saw some crocodiles. They were very big and very scary. ...Crocodile!

On our way home, we flew to Singapore, which is near China. Click the map to see Singapore with Barnaby Bear!
